Mobile Extension

A Mobile Extension (ME) Service helps connect any user's mobile phone to their PBX as a standard office extension.

- Use PBX functions even if you are working out of your office
- Users fixed office line and mobile phones ring simultaneously
- Call can be answered on most convenient line.
- Call can be transfered to other PBX extensions when answered on mobile phone

To use the mobile extension feature of the KX-NCP phone system you will need to purchase the Activation Key for Enhanced Software (KX-NCS3910WJ)

When using mobile extension a call can be routed to an external number inlcuding a mobile phone, the call can be answered and then transferred back to another extension on the phone system. This means the mobile device or homeworker can work as an extension of the phone system.

When the mobile extension feature is used, the phone system uses another telephone line to call out to the mobile device, so in the case of using a mobile extension on a DDI number, the system would be using one channel for the inbound call and a second channel for the call to the mobile and continuing to use both channels for the duration of the call, so extra capacity will need to be calculated when deciding the number of ISDN channels / SIP Trunks.

THE MOBILE EXTENSION AND TRUNK TO TRUNK TRANSFER FEATURE DOES NOT WORK ON PSTN ANALOGUE TELEPHONE LINES.

To help manage costs, many users of the PBX Mobile Extension will connect a GSM Gateway to the trunk ports of the phone system so that calls can be routed over the GSM network, and by using a suitable tariff that gives free calls between company mobile phones, the cost can be reduced to a fixed monthly rental for the SIM cards in the GSM Gateway.

For example - an ISDN2 GSM Gateway that holds 2 x SIM cards can be connected to a spare ISDN2e trunk port and will provide the ability to make 2 x simultaneous calls to mobile phones. The cost of an ISDN2e GSM Gateway is under £400.00.
